Demons & Devils - the difference?

The abyss is full of anarchy. Demons doing what the please without regard for any others, fighting each other, stabbing each other in the back if they DO try to fight a common enemy, etc.

Hell is full of bureaucrats and politicians. If you want to get anything done in Hell, you've got to have the requisite forms, signed in triplicate, sent to a different department, lost, found, sent back, resent, signed, lost, and finally returned.

So is the IRS run by some guy named A. S. Modeus?

Probably. Having said that, I'll be expecting my audit papers any day now.

Chinese demons are a bit different than the typical D&D demon, though. you can 'defeat' them (force them to serve you or send them back to whichever of the 10000 hells they came from) by being polite, offering to dine with them or tickling them into submission!

In most of my campaigns it has always been a little different:

Devil = divine nature
Demon = non-divine nature
