Describe Your Campaign World

My current campaign world is developed around evil winning and a new land.

About 450 years a new land was discovered and colonized, the races found there were orc, human and elf. It was a wild and dangerous place. Dwarves from the old world saw this as their ancestral home; humans did not care for the most part, the distance too great, the trip too dangerous.

200 years after that things changed, the old world came under the rule of the Vampire Lords. To avoid slavery and the control of the vampires there was a mass exodus to the new lands.

Today most of the refugees have settled in the seven cities on the Silver River controlling about 60 miles out from the river. The elves and orcs control the most of the wildness; dwarves have reopened forgotten cities of their forefathers in the mountains. The other races just fit in where they can. The old world has become a wasteland and graveyard for the undead.

My campaign world is a hodge-podge of various other settings and ideas. Mostly I'll take an existing name or place and modify it to my liking.

Check the link in my sig for a more detailed version of my world.

Note: It's constantly growing as most of what I have are large generalizations of areas as oppossed to complete details. I detail as I need, or if I've got nothing better to do.

I run a heavily modified Greyhawk setting, currently based in a almost totally reclaimed Geoff. In fact, Gran March and Geoff are about to go to war over Hochoch unless the characters (12th level gang) can persuade both sides to cool down. My Greyhawk is slightly more low magic than it already is, the drow elves are just stories told to scare kids and adventurers are rarely seen by the common folk. There are lots of legends and stories about monsters, but they are rarely seen by anyone except fool hardy adventurers. The Greyhawk Wars bankrupted almost all countries and there are several nations that are on the verge of economic collapse due to having to take out loans or raise taxes to a staggering level in order to simply pay the army. Yes, it is a good time to be had by all.

Good times, good times!

Hi all-
Good stuff, as for canned campaigns, my favorite is the FRCS which I plunder for ideas, feats, and other minutia.. Infact the FRCS IS the standard on how to develop, write and format a world. In my humble opinion
Its an outstanding campaign setting and if my players told me they wanted to play in an FRCS campaign world, I would have no qualms in implementing their request. Of course I would still try to keep the flavor of anime within my realms campaign too.
I also like Planescape too, kinda has the splater-punk atmosphere going for it. Greyhawk is an old fav, it’s the campaign setting I grew up on in my early years of 1st ed. D&D. anyways, this is my last post today, I gotta get my phone service shut off because our unit is clearing Fort Hood and deploying back to Chicago, so next Saturday I’ll be back online. Though I do hope sprint shuts off service at the end of the day, so I can still post here.

take care

Force User,

That sounds incredibly cool. I'm going to check it out later today.

Anyway ....

From the opening page of my site:

====

They say it's good to be the king.
Tell that to King Almagaish of Launhym.

Tattooed Orcs invading from the north, Dwarves with guns in the neighboring mountains, a vast empire to the south, wealty elitists taking control from the east, druids and clerics fighting internally, barons threatening to tear the country up, your wife of over twenty years may just well be having an affair, and all because some wizard named Murchad didn't get his way.

This isn't just a game setting; it's Casablanca with magic and blood.

My world

The basis of my world it that the world was created by the gods for they amusment. after a millenia or tow they get board with a race a create a other that would worship them. Every time the new race loose intereste in the gods so the create a new one. And the new racee with the help of the gods try to desimate the dominate race. But every thing change when they created the humains, more dédicated to the gods, espacialy all of the gods, than any race.
In my world the gods are important but only the humains know it. because of that, All other races are in decline. The human fight for the gods kill in the name of the gods and help the gods, and the gods like to play with humains. ther's only 12 gods.

I like the idea of gods fithing each other like in Homer's Iliad or Odessey, each god having favorit cites or kings or heros. So magic is low, it does't come from gods, exept for elf that care more of magic than gods.

With that I had a idea for a campagn.
A country, human, recenly became a magocracie and are invading other country with towsands mages in ther army and the got the help of the god of knowlege and the god tirany.
the back story of this is a Deamon as capture the God of Knoledge, and took is place, giving too much knowledge to peaple especialy mage. So that the Human stop worshiping the gods, by giving them more power than the Gods. The Deamon is taping directly in the god (bocob) hiding in si lair . The PCs, bounty hunter at the start and terrorist now, are charge by the stargazer, who know something will apend in the future, to find a artifact that will capture the deamon.

Hi all-
While responding to a few e-mail query’s on my own campaign world, it got me thinking, what does everybody else run? Is it a costume world, is out of the box? High-fantasy / low fantasy, from a book or a movie.

Yes, mine is a costume world. It's based on the movie Moulin Rouge. :D
