The session before last, a party of troops from the empire showed up, with two demands:

The convocation of priests that's developing should happen in the capital.
The foreigners (the PCs) appear to have entered the country without permission. They should come to the capital to sort this out.
However, they weren't prepared for the scale and unity of the convocation - its guards outnumber them significantly - the absence of Aster, our priestess of Artemis, who's driving all this, or that we're happy to travel in a mirror-world of Artemesia. Transition between the "dayside" where the humans live and the "nightside" where supernatural creatures live is trivial for anyone who can use arcane magic, so the existence of nightside is common knowledge. The captain of the troops regards travelling on nightside as very dangerous, whereas we regard it as quite acceptable, safer than our home world, provided you're polite and honest about your purpose. They agreed to wait until Aster returned, and last session she did. She explained what was going on, with the assistance of the Bow of Apollo, and the captain abruptly switched from treating her as an inferior to showing respect to a superior. We're still awaiting various priests, whom we're scryed and seen on the way, and various sacred creatures. Some griffons and a cyclops turned up and were briefed, and we did a couple of local expeditions. The first was in search of an Olive Nymph, a sacred creature of Athena. That required finding olive trees, which wasn't too hard since our base camp is near a village. Plants have dual existence, on both dayside and nightside, so we went to the olive grove on nightside, with Laythia, our half-elf, half-dryad 2e Ranger, who worships Aldrya, the Gloranthan goddess of elves, plants and everything in between. She's quite good at spotting dryads, tree-nymphs and allied trades, and since her player is recovering from heart surgery, this seemed like a good low-stress job for her. The Olive Nymph was quite willing to join the mission, and we were able to work out ways to let her be away from her tree for several weeks. The next day, Aster lad a trip into the depths of the large forest nearby in search of Satyrs, sacred to Dionisius, and Giant Owls, sacred to Athena. She took Laythia with her, and also Rama, Magus of the Tower of Blackened Marble, the nexus point through which we reached this world. Rama is a specialist missile mage, and rather blunt, but being the Magus gives her status, and this was helpful with the owls. Finding them in a large forest might seem difficult, but Wind Walk to get into the centre of the forest and Commune With Nature to locate them worked fine. We ended the session with the expedition still in the forest, intending to look for satyrs. We now have both of Athena's sacred creates with us, which may be helpful, since the 0human worshippers of Athena are not yet convinced by the mission, as far as we know. We are splitting the party almost al the time, because we have to mind the two base camps on dayside and nightside, and we haven't had a single serious combat in this world. The players are quite happy about that; the characters are high level, wealthy, and trying to do some good.
