Politics: the Sikh prince in the party has been signing declarations of friendship and co-operation with other governments in the region around northern India. These include Indian princely states and Afghanistan. Today he got called in by his cousin, the Maharaja of Patiala State to ask about his objectives and firm up plans. During this, they started to devise a constitution for an independent India, rather different from the historical one. Recruiting: During the previous session of this campaign, the party met with the new commander of the Indian Army, General Auchinleck, and were able to convince him that magic is returning to the world. Like any skilled general, he was keen to apply a new resource to his existing problems, and has created the Indian Corps of Religious Advisers. That will provide "religious advisers" to the troops who are actually magical support for the Army. Now it's necessary to recruit and train some, so the characters did a bit of that, through existing contacts and social structures. They had to stop because of the next mission their agency (Delhi Intelligence Bureau, the British India equivalent of MI5) had for them. Travelling: this was to escort some Indian National Congress politicians to the current capital (as of February 1941) of Nationalist China, Chongqing. The politicians went there to learn more about the Sino-Japanese war, at the suggestion of the Delhi Intelligence Bureau, who are trying to get the INC to co-operate more when war breaks out between Japan and Britain. This is regarded as inevitable. Insurance: They travelled in a Douglas DC-3, which belongs to the Sikh prince and is leased to and operated by Tata Airways. However, it is not insured against war damage, and Chongqing gets reasonably frequent air raids by the Japanese. So the air crew stayed at the airfield with the plane, and have orders to head for Kunming, to the south-west, if the air raid warning goes off. While Nationalist China is inefficient at many things, air raid warning works quite well, because the Japanese have to fly hundreds of kilometres over populated areas that have a functioning telephone and telegraph system. Cliff-hanger: The PCs and the politicians spent the afternoon of their third day in Chongqing at Chiang Kai-Shek's afternoon social event. Two hours before dawn, the air-raid alarms started and we ended the session.
