300 years of Truth/T.R.U.S.T. The Science The Italian stuntwoman felt dumb, until Rafe revealed a fact about academia. "Some have a fancy education, but they’re still idiots." In 1936, Harvard turned 300 years old. Hooray! But while the group vas glad-handing (and putting everything they have into a crew race), it turns out one of the massive donors has disappeared. Rafe Lancaster, Zelda Saeki and Lala Santinella tried to investigate, while getting caught in university politics and undergraduate pranks. (Rafe’s secretary Gladys tricked 13-year-old Devika into giving Judge Learned Hand a stuffed version of Handsome Dan, the Yale bulldog; the Harvard Lampoon gave out free pot brownies.) Lala was overprotective, driving her adopted daughter Devi away; Zelda decided to solve the case by herself, but when cornered by evil medical students, discharged a firearm in public and nearly got arrested. Rafe used his business contacts to get things back on track, but the party was truly saved when Professor Winston Callahan showed up. It wasn't previously established where the professor had attended college, so he spent a fate point to declare that he was a Harvard alumnus. And although this brought many obligations (like having to co-present with his buddy Carter Dudley about the The Doom of the Lost Library), he likely kept the group from getting kicked out of Cambridge. Callahan was extremely good at making contacts among academics, which allowed him to glide back into the good graces of the school. Although Prof WC was tricked by the villain (another overeducated academic with a chip on his shoulder), the group eventually snuck into his lab and found the donor’s remains. Unfortunately, the shock of finding bones in a crawlspace caused some of the quartet to lose their lunch, and the cleaning took a lot of time. This attracted Callahan’s rival, 73 year-old janitor McNulty. McNulty was still upset at Callahan, one of the worst vandals in school history. They almost came to blows until Zelda intervened. The group decided that a public confrontation with the killer was the best idea, so they created a fake award to give him during a dinner. (They slightly modified their rowing trophy.) The group stoked the instructor’s envy, until he took the stage to tell the ‘primitive Ivy screwheads’ just how much they had neglected him over the years. That's when he reached into the podium and found a femur, and bragged about the crime until tackled by campus security. Success! Except for Callahan. The event had caused a tremendous amount of negative publicity, and the university didn't feel it was proper to grant him a position. — The group had befriended the donor’s brother, and he had a security contract for them. The Boston Society of Natural History was building something new, "a museum of science,” and it needed its security tested. Could they break in, and leave little orange note cards in every exhibit until being caught by security? The group (who swapped out millionaire Rafe with hard-nosed detective JP Diamond) approached the site via the icy Charles River.
