Nun of the Above! Part 1. CLANG! Went the tray. Kabir looked puzzled. Skulls don’t go clang… More Indian action. Devika’s taking a vacation in Jaipur with JP Diamond, judoka/ bureaucrat Kabir Rupert, and her loyal pilot Raymond “Jonesey” Jones. The housekeeper Shanti has suspicions that her daughter is in danger, and the group investigates… Finding a bizarre, aura-less nun taking the children on a field trip. Jonesy and Devi try to interrupt, but the nun is wise to their chicanery. The group follows the bus to the Ganymede Pediatric Hospital, a very strange place for a field trip. Kabir makes some cutting remarks to the sister, and when she doesn't rise to the bait, he notices that her breathing is perfectly cyclical and her eyes make a faint clicking noise. Later, the nun enters a hospital pantry to prepare juice for the children. Devi tries the mystical whammy; it has absolutely no result. She plays it off as a joke, then gestures for Kabir. When the nun starts pouring glasses, the judoka slams her as hard as he can in the back of the head with a cookie tray… to little effect. Turns out the neophyte’s a robot! Although she's strong enough to dent the fridge with fists, Devi and Kabir use her strength against her, breaking her chassis and turning her into a twisted sister. Meanwhile, JP investigates the hospital and finds out it's run as a charity by an overwhelmingly German staff. As someone who works for an orphanage, he volunteers to keep the children safe while the other three sneak out the nunbot in the trashcan, to investigate it back at Devi’s hangar. Turns out the nun is otherworldly. Not Martian or lunar, but something Jonesey had never seen before. (They even confirmed this by reaching out to the group’s old electrical genius nun, Sister Ynez.) The ANZAC went builds a metal detector, and Devi puts the sister’s head into her backpack. Kabir suggests one of the gang's most effective ruses, pretending that they want to give a lot of money. Hospital administrator Dr. Hans is happy to give them a tour. Jonesy’s wave of the detector indicates that while the fellow isn't a robot, he is wearing a shoulder holster. The group asks about the hospital, and it turns out they ship Indian blood to a mysterious firm in Malta, which also has a Greek name. Feeling that their interrogation has stalled, Kabir slides the backpack across Hans’s desk. The administrator flips out, pulls his pistol (and is immediately disarmed), then flees into the hallway. Kabir hides the head, while Jones and Velyapur come up with a lie. The doctor was having a panic attack due to snuff, and needed an immediate sedative. The nurses, hearing the man rant about severed robotic nun-skulls, inject him and take him to a cool-down room for privacy. At the front desk, Kabir asks about the nuns’ order. Apparently, they’re from an obscure Greek abbey on the island of Malta. Needless to say, the hospital isn't getting the deposit, and the group is off to the Mediterranean… TO BE CONTINUED!
