describing attacks?

12th level character
The claws of the dragon swipe across Kalador's chest, crushing the breath from him, and likely fracturing a few ribs. The wall behind him crumbles to powder with the impact, and yet Kalador still stands. A bit wobbly on his feet, but he's take such blows before. Likely it may be some time before he can push his suit of armor back into a likely shape. And he will more than likely crash when the andreline runs down. But he's been hit like this before, many times, and knows how to hold off the pain for some time.

1st level character
The claws of the dragon swipe across little Kalador's chest. His little body is buffeted by the blow and as he impacts the wall behind him, his head snaps against the wall sending a spray of blood and matter. His chest rises is a staggered breath and then subsides as blood dribbles from his mouth from the internal damage caused in the impact.

With a low level character the impact will likely be a direct hit. With higher levle ones, it may be glancing blows, near misses. Or even that they no longer directly notice the pain right away. Regular use and abuse, just may get ignored... at least for a time. Adrenaline is a great thing.
