Design some dungeon rooms for me please

Simon Magalis

First Post
I am running a one night dungeon-fest for 10th level PCs. The idea is the old Deathtrap Dungeon motif. Lots of monsters lots of traps. I am looking for cool ideas, not just your standard fare. I have a room of swinging blades filled with spectres who are unaffected by the blades for instance. I want neat combos like that if at all possible. I know some of you guys have some great imaginations. Help me out, ok?

The dungeon was built by a mad baron to use as a sick game. He puts murderers, rapists, political prisoners, anybody he wants to get rid of into the dungeon and if they come out the other side, they are free to go. Therefore, it doesnt have to be realistic in any way... it is not a habitation or a functional building. It is a dungeon designed to be a dungeon. I am looking for cool visuals and cool concepts. Stuff that makes the players say wow.

Sorry, I am too tired to design anything this evening... :-(

So I will have to take a rain cheque on helping you out.

Am 8th level Ogre Monk with the Great Throw feat from OA (you can find it on the WotC site) standing on a five foot wide bridge over a deep spiked pit. The PCs thinking that it is just an ogre, will charge. Ogre grabs the leading PC, and throws him onto the spikes.

A long, sloping corridor, with the PCs at the bottom. At the bottom the opposite wall has several deep, narrow holes in it. As the PCs advance up the corridor, they hear a rumbling sound, then see a wagon with spears sticking from the front come roaring down at them, time to start making saving throws.

Blocks in the floor that smash people into the ceiling.

A necromancer who sends his skeletons into battle and supports them with cones of cold, coldballs, and glyphs of warding (cold).

Undead in water trap. Basic pit trap that dumps players into water 8 or 9 feet deep. The undead (being uneffected) pull the player under trying to down them.

To be really mean change the water to an acid, eats flesh but leaves bones. :)

Head down to your FLGS (or used book store) and try to find any of the old Grimtooth books. That's 50% of what you're looking for (cool traps)...
