Designing a mega-dungeon - looking for ideas, products

Hi All,
The central city in my newly formed campaign has an Undermountain-esque mega-dungeon underneath it, complete with an entrance that the local adventurer's guild charges admission to. The complex, of course, conventiently attaches to the rest of the World Below, including a newly contacted duergar empire and rumors of drow, etc. Anyways, I'm wanting to design the mega-dungeon and am looking for ideas--what are the best mega-dungeons and/or Undermountain-esque complexes? Specifically, what are the best products? In other words, if you like Undermountain, which edition, which book(s)?

Thanks!

I'm a big believer in the edition neutral 0One Games Dungeon Under the Mountain line. The numerous layers of the primary maps allow for plenty of customization, as do the various Rooms & Encounters plug-ins. In fact, this pretty much is Undermountain, less the trite backstory and the higher pricetag.

Jason Carl made the best use of stolen dungeon space in a game he ran for a group I played in. The maps he stole were from The Forge of Fury.

I'll second World's Largest Dungeon...you can mix and match the areas, edit to your heart's content, and it's still useful.

Also: Castle Whiterock (Goodman Games) is probably the best designed mega-dungeon I've ever seen in terms of fleshed out content. Amazing.

Castle Zagyg (Troll Lords) isn't complete, but Upper Works has some great stuff. Might not fit your campaign though, unless there's a ruined castle above the dungeons.

I've heard Greyhawk Ruins is pretty good.

I've used Lost City of Barakus, and that was a blast, but it's a bit low-level (levels 1 to about 6 or 7).

Apart from the WLD, you could also use Undermountain. It has roughly the same set-up with an entrance in Waterdeep set in an inn where PC's can enter the dungeon for a small fee (if I remeber correctly).

I've always been tempted to get that but my general impression from others has been slightly negative. And didn't Monte Cook say that Whiterock is what the World's Largest Dungeon "should" have been?

Yes I did. And I still feel that way. Unfortunately, Whiterock is now mostly unavailable.

Rappan Athuk is good as well.

I haven't really checked into the 0one stuff, but I'm intrigued by it.

I guess I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that my own Ptolus product is pretty much the setup you describe (city with a massive dungeon beneath it which hooks up to the underdark with dark elves, etc.). While it has a lot of material about that dungeon, however, it is mostly about the city above.
