Detect Evil on Acheron

On the plane of Acheron does the plane show up as evil for purposes of a paladin's detect evil? If so how much?

IMHO: some locations within the plane are "mild background evil", other locations are "make a Fort save".

Actually, Acheron isn't an Evil plane. It's a Lawful plane.

True, it's a bit creepy, and many creatures there are evil, but the plane itself has the Minor Lawful-Dominant trait, not the Evil one.

Also, strictly speaking, I don't believe a plane detects under Detect Evil at ALL, come to think of it.

Evil creature1 (HD) 10 or lower 11-25 26-50 51 or higher
Undead (HD) 2 or lower 3-8 9-20 21 or higher
Evil outsider (HD) 1 or lower 2-4 5-10 11 or higher
Cleric of an evil deity2 (class levels) 1 2-4 5-10 11 or higher
Evil magic item or spell (caster level) 2nd or lower 3rd-8th 9th-20th 21st or higher

There's no mention of "Evil Plane" at all. So, technically, even if you're on the 993rd level of the Abyss, Detect Evil won't show anything unless you happen to be looking at an Evil Creature, Undead, Evil Outsider, Cleric of an Evil Deity, or an Evil Magic Item or Spell.

But the important thing is that Acheron is still Lawful, not Evil.

...but... it's not evil, though. There's arguably just as many evil creatures on the material plane as on Acheron. It's a Lawful plane, not an Evil one.
