Devastating Critical

NPC

First Post
Quick question about this feat.

If your opponent makes his fortitude saving throw, do you still do the critical damage you would have done had you not taken the feat?

For example, my character can do upwards of 195 damage on a single crit. If I take this feat, am I now doing no damage when an opponent saves vs. my devastating critical?

Gack, don't save and your opponent dies. Make the save and take a 195 HP hit? Criminy.

I think you still get the damage. And the kill, one way or another. ;p

Yup, you still do the damage if they make the save.

To further clarify - If you deal enough damage to kill the opponent on the crit, DevCrit doesn't kick in, and you get a crit ("Critical Hit!" text). This is good, because you can't cleave off of a DevCrit.

If you Crit, but the damage is not sufficient to kill and the opponent saves, the "Critical Hit!" text appears, and you do a crit.

If you Crit, the normal damage is not sufficient to kill and the opponent fails the save, the "Devestating Critical Hit!" text appears, and the opponent dies. You can't cleave off a Devestating Critical Hit, though.
