Dexterity Reality check!

While checking the PHB i saw that low dex caracteristic does'nt lower your initiative roll.

Or did i miss something, somewhere?

I dont understands why it's is'nt mark in the PHB, beside the fact that they say that initiative is a dexterity check.

When the PH says its a Dexterity check, they mean it's a Dexterity check. Low Dex check = low Init, ceteris paribus.

PHB, page 177, Combat Basics, Initiative, third sentence: "An initiative check is a Dexterity check (1d20 + Dexterity modifier).

A Dexterity modifier can be positive or negative.
