Mathariel turns his head as the sound of growling catches his attention. His eyes dart up as he sees the predatory gleam of the wolves teeth. Immediately he calls out to his new-found traveling companions, "Wolves, all around us!" He draws his sword and advances, readying a strike, should it come to that.

Banmarden's blazing raptor tears into the wolf, and it yelps as the bird singes its bristling fur.

The rest of the wolves gnash their teeth and charge through the brush toward you! One of the gray wolves rushes dumbly toward Mathariel's readied attack. Mathariel is ready to meet the charge, though, and lashes out, while one of the others races past Banmarden's fiery bird.

move: shift to bb10
standard: strike of hope - atk; dmg (1d20+8=9, 1d8+4=8) vs R3; natural 1 is a MISS[/sblock]

As the wolf draws near, Mathariel intones a quick prayer and swings his sword. The blade glows with radiant power, which dissipates as he swings to surround he and his allies with a protective ward, though the attack itself misses its mark.

The wilden looks at the wolf who has charged him, the wilden growls back at the creature, his features transforming before you. Where Banmarden was now stands a bearlike creature, seemingly made of vines and wood. The bear lashes out at the wolf with its claws.

Standard - Grasping Claws against R3, At Will, +4 vs Reflex, 1d8+4 damage, target is slowed till the end of your next turn

Sindabar intones a spell in his countries mother language, a soft and appealing tongue. He throws a puff of dust from a pouch at his left, and the spell comes alive. Strands of magical energy surge through the battlefield, stinging the wolves while evading the allies. Both grey wolves are hit, along with one of the other more weak types. Not wanting to get injured again, Sindabar takes good distance from the canids.

Beguiling strands on a 5x5 area. Hit both grey wolves and one of the revs. for 4 dmg each. Then move 6 away from wolves. Rolls

Mathariel quickly places a mote of light on his weapon to cut . He then steps around the wolf that just tried to bite him before swinging his longsword at his assailant, divine magic enhancing his senses and allowing him to protect himself from danger.

[sblock=Alert]Ravenous wolves Reflex = 14[/sblock]

These wolves seem to find an animalistic thrill in the hunt. They rush at you doggedly, circling like the vicious predators they are. The pack falls on Mathariel, but his divine magic seems to offer at least a little protection. Soon, though, one of the wolves sinks its teeth into his arm and drags him to his knees.

Another wolf buries its fangs in Banmarden's mossy leg, and the wilden lets out a yelp as the animal clamps its jaws shut on him.

The light in the tower flickers, as if calling to you.

[sblock=Enemy Actions]
R1 move, charge to X10, targeting Mathariel.
Attack hits. 6-3 damage. Mathariel is grabbed.
R2 move to Y9, bite vs. Mathariel.

Attack hits. 7-3 damage. Mathariel falls prone.

Summary.

Patrin, Dragonborn Paladin (Cavalier) 1, 33/33 HP

OOC: I forgot to call out Patrin's interrupts in advance, so this might be considered retconning, but no one else has acted yet so if you'll allow it...

Something seemed to sap at the ravenous wolves' will to fight anyone but the dragonborn as he attacked Banmarden.
[sblock=Opportunity Action]Rightous Radiance: When an enemy subject to Patrin's defender aura shifts or attack's one of Patrin's allies without including him in the attack, the enemy takes 6 radiant damage.[/sblock]

Patrin somehow managed to interpose himself between Mathariel and the grey wolf, taking the attack and then responding with an attack of his own.
[sblock=Immediate Interrupt]Guardian's Counter:
Encounter
bullet.gif
Martial
Immediate Interrupt Close burst 2
Trigger: An ally within 2 squares of you is hit by an attack and you are not included in the attack.
Effect: You and the ally shift up to 2 squares as a free action, swapping positions. You become the target of the triggering attack, in place of the ally. After the attack is resolved, you can make a basic attack against the attacker.

(Patrin's AC is a little higher than Mathariel's so, I don't know if the attack will hit him; for the coutner-attack Melee Basick Attack; dmg (1d20+8=20, 1d8+4=11) )
[/sblock]
OOC: Note that this is an OA and an immediate interrupt, not Patrin's turn.
