Dog House Rules Publishes First Issue of Sidewinder: Recoiled Newsletter
May 25, 2004—Tampa, FL: The Dog House Gang is mighty proud to announce the release of the first issue of the Fort Griffin Echo, in support of the Sidewinder: Recoiled RPG.
This 36 page electronic newsletter offers news articles, optional rules, NPCs, and historical background information designed to liven up any western role playing game. Based on the original Echo newspaper from way back in the late 1870s, in Fort Griffin, Texas, subsequent issues of the Fort Griffin Echo will be produced on a periodic basis.
As a special promotion, and thank-you to gamers who have purchased Sidewinder: Recoiled, the first issue of the Echo will be offered absolutely FREE, as a download available exclusively at the Dog House Rules LLC web site (www.doghouserules.net).
The premier issue includes the following features and recurring columns:
The Way it Was: The first of a series of honest-to-goodness real news stories unearthed by the Echo editors—stories that give a taste of the real life on the Frontier.
White Hat/Black Hat: Law and order is a mighty likely theme in Western role playing, so Christopher S. Warner has rounded up a fictional posse inspired by the real events from the “The Way it Was” story.
Weapon Report: In a recurring column, DHR’s resident scientist, Bradley W. Hindman, offers optional rules for weapon misfires and a look at some special weapons.
Council Fires: Geoff Spakes offers loads of information about the masters of the plains, the Comanche, including the first prestige classes explicitly designed for Sidewinder: Recoiled.
Cinema Styles: T.L. Gregory and Mr. Hindman serve up some knee-slapping “Eye-talian” style campaign flavor. Get ready to bust a gut.
