Dial back the magic items?

So now that we've seen the basic math of 5e in action, I return you to the discussion about magic items - especially plusses.

If characters aren't going to be increasing their to-hits or AC with level at all, magic items become even more powerful/important/unbalancing/broken.

I don't think there should be a +2 weapon lying around in a 3rd level dungeon under those circumstances, do you?

(I know, I know, just a quick-and-dirty playtest conversion. Still.)

I'm not sure there should be a +2 weapon lying around in a 20th level dungeon under those circumstances. With no way of improving attack bonuses but feats, magic items, and just maybe improving your attack stat (and if we see the return of 3.x-style stat booster items, or the even worse pre-3e versions, I'll be very disappointed), +X items are insanely powerful in 5e as-is.

I agree, don't have +2 weapons just lying around in a 3rd level dungeon.

That said, I love the flatter math. I love the idea that bonuses won't change too much as characters advance. A +1 ever 4 or 5 levels would be just fine in my books. More options, not more math.
