Did the Epic SRD change recently?

I could've sworn the Epic Magic SRD read... a little differently before. Because I had tried to create an epic spell once which had a DC in the millions, possibly billions... but trying it again, to prove a point to someone, I got the spell somewhere downright REASONABLE. What the heck happened?

The spell in question is from the Chronicals of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Always Winter, Never Christmas
This spell needs to cover an entire kingdom (we'll assume a LOWER boundary for this spell will need a radius of at least 50 miles (diameter 100miles) but the higher, the better of course) and should keep it eternally winter, while keeping a certain specific person out.

SRD: http://www.systemreferencedocuments.org/35/sovelior_sage/epicSpellDevelopment.html

Base Seed: Engery(weather,cold) DC +25
Added Seed: Ward(St.Nick) DC +14

This will give us a 2-mile radius of winter with no christmas, and it will last 20 hours. We now will apply factors to increase the area and make the time permanent.

Factor: Increase Area to 4mi - DC +4
Factor: Increase Area to 8mi - DC +4
Factor: Increase Area to 16mi - DC +4
Factor: Increase Area to 32mi - DC +4
Factor: Increase Area to 64mi - DC +4
Factor: Increase Duration to Permanent - DC x5

So, we have (25+14+20)*5 = 295

Mitigating Factor: Increase Casting time to 10 Minutes - DC -20
Mitigating Factor: Increase Casting time to 100 Days - DC -200

Final DC = 75. High, but not unmanageable. The White Witch clearly has a hundred days she can devote to casting this spell, and if you really need a lower DC (which she shouldn't) you can always take some damage or burn XP. If we need more area, each additional DOUBLING of area increases the DC linearly... specifically, each doubling increases the DC by 20 (aka 4x5).

Now, I remember CLEARLY that when I tried this before, increasing the area to the required size made the DC go up exponentially... so high that it was unthinkable that even a deity could cast the neccessary spell. Each area doubling did something like double the DC, not a pidling increase of 4.

So, did I misread the SRD before (although I asked about this at the time and people told me I had it right... if you're a Community Supporter would you mind searching for my old thread on this subject?) or has the SRD actually CHANGED since then?

I'm not complaining. Epic spells not able to effect huge areas of landscape has been a complaint of mine for a long time. I definitely -want- epic spells that can effect an entire Kingdom. But I didn't think that the rules allowed this before. Could my main complaint with the Epic system finally have gone away? Have I been living in a delusional world all this time?

What's up?

Maybe the doubling rules changes, or you misapplied them. Normally, DnD multiplication works by adding the base again. So each doubling adds 2 miles. In that case, you'd need 31 doublings of area or +124 DC instead of +20.
