Different Games for the Referee and Players

I imagine that’s where games like Torg came from.

We did similar with AD&D, Gamma World, and Traveller; basic character layout plus magic from AD&D, high tech plus mutations from GW, and more high tech, plus spacecraft from Traveller. Worked well.

This would take experienced players. Because I have to look up everything for the inexperienced ones, and there's no way I'm doing that through two or more rule books.

Ha ha. That's cool someone here has a forum name of GMMichael.
Our GM Michael moved away decades ago, but is still remembered fondly by those players that played at his tables in the early days.

Had a GM do this in Feb. Playing Masks made my char (human with gadgets) 2-3x more effective than the person doing CoC style ones or the D&D rogue. Teamwork points and a smaller probability curve, plus no SAN penalties or d20 swing, made a huge difference.
