Dimension Door Spell question

Hi,

Can PC's apart from the caster act straight after they have been teleported via dimension door? Or do they have their turn just after casters next round?

Cheers

I'd say that they act normally on their initiative. The spell wasn't cast on their turn anyway, was it?

After using this spell, you can’t take any other actions until your next turn.

Since 'you' refers to the caster, it only applies to the caster.

I would, however, apply it to anyone transported (and apply it to all teleportation effects, which do not specifically say otherwise, actually), to avoid the delay-hop-strike routine (the younger cousin of the scry-buff-teleport routine). ;)

I agree. IMG those who go with have thier initiative tick changed to the caster's initiative tick. IMHO spell is for getting away, not to taxi tanks so they get full attacks.

I can agree with your nerf, but note that the spell has always been intended both for advancing and retreating (but of course, still could be used that way even with your change).

But, if the mage uses Lutzaen's Frequent Jaunt (dimension door as a move equivalent action over many rounds) does it work the same? Is the mage allowed to act afterwards moving or is he forced to act first and move then?

You can do whatever you want. ME action to jaunt, then cast a spell or the other way round.

Same with DDoor to bring a fightertype next to the hostile spellcaster: He acts on his initiative as usual. Why shouldn't he ready to strike as soon as he gets teleported? That would actually be worse than waiting for his initiative there and use a full attack action asap. It's up to the teleporting wizard to wait till the spellcaster acted, then Ddoor and let the fighter whack him.

The risk: The hostile spellcaster will at least get one spell off.

Dimension Door states: "After using this spell, you can’t take any other actions until your next turn."

that should be the same with Lutzaen's Frequent Jaunt (ME or not) - doesnt it?

As written I would say it only refers to the caster. I have to respectfully dissagree with applying it to all teleportaion effects though. If the spell does not explicitly state it in the description then there is no dazed period. Fine if it is just a house rule of course but not my cup of tea.
