Can anyone tell me what monster book I can find a Pterodactyl in?

That's a good question. I checked everything i have and couldn't find it. Did you try the creature catalog site?

Never mind not on the creature catalog site from what i could see. Or in the tome of horrors.

BTW, i checked

MM 1&2

Creature Collection 1&2

and even Monsters of Faerun and creatures of rokugan.

I'm at work, without my books, but you just listed all of the monster books I have, plus the Rokugan book.

Guess I'll have to make it up!

I think I'll use the scores for a Roc and go from there, unless anyone has a better idea?

You could beef up a Wyvern (or leave as is) and ditch the sting... *shrug*

Actually if you look at the MM2 the Quetzalcoatlus is pretty close, it's a flying reptile type.

Yeah, you'd probably just have to size down the ol' Quetzalcoatlus to make a decent Pterydactyl, a nice Pteranadon, or even a Ramphorincus (for the tinier ones)...

Same basic body shape, just on a smaller scale.

Maybe play with it a bit by giving the smaller breeds camulflage, or a higher maneuverability or whatever. Maybe a poison, or some other minor special talent to distinguish them and their habits/habitats/diets/whatever.

The main thing I want is a monster that can fly with the Snatch Special Ability.

So far, the Roc fits my criterion.

However, the Quetzalcoatlus is also going to be extremely useful. More on this later.
