Dire Animals

Just wondering if anyone has
1) written up a template for Dire animals.
2) written up stats for more common animals not found in the MMs.

no template i'm aware of, but several new dire animals are presented in Masters of the wild and MM2.

One reason I am asking, is because this image of a dark abandoned farm comes to mind. The party goes to investigate and are suddenly attacked by dire cows and chickens. Just something rather unexpected. But like dire animals in general anyway.

cool idea, that would make for a rather nasty encounter. Keep in mind that to a low level character a cow/bull would be a formidable apponent, although direization would be needed for chickens and such.

Maybe led by a fiendish bull, who is the reason the farm animals have gone dire. Just a little idea.

I find this entire post very funny, simply because some of us apparently think alike.

I just a few days ago ran a game in which the PCs found the farm in which all the animals had been transformed into various monsters (chickens into cockatrices, etc.). I'm actually giving some serious thought to writing it up and submitting to Dungeon.
