Discussion - General Discussion Thread '08

Hey folks, I was wondering if you had considered the Urban Ranger variant from Unearthed Arcana and the OGL previously?

I love the idea of making my final character a detective type and this seems to fit extremely well.

If this has not been proposed previously, or considered alongside other OGL variant, should I start a proposal thread?

Might I also be able to use the job system for such a character? Say if I took profession detective?

And, um, if any judges happen to be reading this if you follow the links bellow and approve the characters you get a free um fond wish...

Hello All,

due to the fact that I am faced with a lot of extra work untill somwheer in July I will not be attending my judge and character judge duties during June and most of July.
I will keep my adventure and characters active (one needs a bit of fun too!).

regards,
B4cchus

I would like to set up Rigabold Parr my Urban Ranger with a job as a detective. However, this does not work under the current system. He has four ranks in Gather Information, Knowledge Local, Profession Detective, and the Urban Tracking feat, but none of these skills fit under the current job system.

I am hoping the judges will consider okaying the use of Gather Information in place of craft for this purpose, or failing that Profession Detective.

Obviously other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

To Halford:

I would just go with the profession gig maybe:

Profession(Troubleshooter)- someone everyone goes to when noone else can help
Profession(Finder?)- you lost something i can find it, someone ed someone i can find them, i can find anything: slogan lol
Profession(Sheriff)- alot of responsibility but a good DM could use it in constructive was
Profession(Private Investagator)- almost same as troubleshooter and finder but cooler name
Profession(Sleuth)- just different name for detective

hope this brainstorming helps

Congratulations to LEW's first (pending approval) 11th-level character. It won't surprise anyone that this distinction goes to Rinaldo diSenzio. Also, ironically, since LEW's highest-level PC casters all took levels that gave no spellcasting, the second PC caster or manifester capable of 5th level spells/powers is now Hogarth, Rinaldo's cohort (the first was Zaeryl, with 5th-level Psion powers).

wow did not know there were characters that high of a level in LEW

Congratulations Indeed!! so who plays this character and how long has he been active in LEW it would be cool to see some of the higher lvl characters what magic they have spell list etc. give people something to shot for

You can always check the official character thread. Rinaldo has been a fixture of LEW, and he owns the premiere player-owned shop (you can check his thread to see what's in stock). All the high-levels have been less visible recently, as they're part of a coalition to stop the Lichwyrm Vildaxaranthus from returning and conquering the world.
