A few long term questions to consider...

When and if any of our characters reach 6th level, how will the leadership feat be handled? Taking on another PC as a cohort (kinda useless) attracting a judge created cohort, making one ourselves with acceptable down time and back story to explain the introduction? What about followers?

In a related (to me) question, is there any chance we could bend the animal companion rules to allow several smaller animal companions? One of my characters is being built as a serious information gatherer, and a small collection of combat useless bats and rats (etc) would fit the character better than this new "one companion fits all archetypes" system...

I can make a reccomendation as too the second character- I don't know what your specific needs are, but the Handle Animal rules allow you to keep your own menagarie fairly effectively, within limits.

One of the few peoblems that I have with 3.5 is the Druid now having one Companion.
The last druid that I played had a Boar, several birds and a colony of field mice (that was pretty funny, as the Mice didn't fully trust the Druid, what with him having Owls and all...).

As far as Cohorts go, that's a tough call. I am a huge fan of Leadership myself and the most logical choice at first would seem for the player to get together with a Judge and create a Cohort. In my other (non LEW) games, I, the DM play the Cohorts. However, what we have here is a Cohort that several DMs will play differently (if they even want to play them, some DMs don't like to) over the course of different adventures, creating a very inconsistant NPC.
This one will take some thought.

yeah, I've always been in favor of the smaller, less combat ready animal companions to act as scouts and such. I suppose we could introduce a feat to allow a number of small companions with a hp and CR total limit which would progress by a method similar to the new standard (Swarm Companions, animals increase in wis instead of str and dex, and maybe gain some empathy or sense link instead of the extra HD and other battle abilities...)

well, for myself, I'd introduce a cohort who wouldn't make a good standalone character anyway. (in this case a not too bright and very shy wood elf druid).

I already have my feats and classes planned out to 7th level, I just know my character will die any minute... ;)

but will she ever be the bard 4/ranger 3 ultimate intelligence collecting machine I envision? ;)

(and will there be adventures she can do her job in....)

I love leadership. But with continually switching DMs, I think the only way to properly handle cohorts is with the player himself controlling him/her.

Of course, with the 3.5 rule that cohorts need to be 2 levels less, they're less powerfull and thus aren't taking away much of the shine from the actual PC's.

For animal friends, handle animal should be able to do the job. There's one creature that's really your closest buddy with which you get the mental link and all and you could have a bunch of creatures that you take care of and who will follow you.

While on the subject, for Palamounts, are alternative mounts allowed, as they are in the 3.5 DMG (afaik, the same as in DotF)? I guess there's nothing to be done about the fact that they'll say *poof* after a few hours, since we're trying to limit houserules to a minimum :(

Pantheon

Sorry to change the subject here, but I can't find the Pantheon list. The link in MacBeth's FAQ thread doens't link to anything. Where did that go?

Yeah, my FAQ has been replaced by the Guide to Living Enworld, so mine's out of date.
