I agree to the three in a region idea, sounds like, unless Creamsteak has some major objection , thats official. Just thinking about characters makes me remember that I've been meaning to create a character for myself. I assume that when I get my char done I just have the other judges or maybe Thels look it over, since I can't really review my own char.

Speaking of regions...

At what point in this proccess would it be possible to introduce a very different kind of region? (that is, one that will require a higher starting level, more races, and/or alternate classes to run adventures there.)

Regarding the Magic item/tme thing. In short, I think a Mage making a few scrolls is fine. Someone pumping out Staffs of Power 'instantly', regardless of the Level that they have achieved or the XP that they pay I find ludicrous.
'OK, I payed the 5,000XP, the 105,000GP, and Poof, there's my Staff.

Personally I have absolutely zero problem with allowing a character who meets the pre-reqs and has actually managed to save up 105kGP to wander off into their warped-time lab and POOF walk out with the staff.

However, I think we should encourage characters who intend to build mighty items to quest for components (i.e. find a dm to run an adventure with the purpose of carving a branch from the legendary tree EcksEcksEcksEcks which is worth 10kgp toward the cost of producing a Staff of Power)

Heh, check the PHB for dogfood and horsefood.

Up to 3 in the initial location sounds fine to me. I think judges should reserve the right to set the max/player lower to other locations, but never higher. Perhaps there are some locations where you just don't want as many people, or perhaps have too much interaction going on to have a player handle more than 1.

Sounds like a good idea.

I would like to make a statement regarding the Character Thread.
Firstly, it seem that half of the folks or so have gone with the template that WippitGuud and Thels were advocating. Though I was at first for formats more like those i posed above, I have come around and now prefer this one as well.
I would like for all players not yet converted to it to do so by next week, hopefully sooner than later, please. It makes it very easy to read for DMs and much easier on Macbeth to go over and Edit, since we would all be using the same format. If someone could repost the template for players, that would be very cool.

Macbeth, could you possibly email a few of the Players regarding their text in the character thread as well. Some of the backgrounds seem to go on in a sprawling manner, causing one to have to scroll sideways to read it all. This is a simple fix-up and shouldn't be a problem for folks (just edit and use that handy-dandy little enter/return button a few times).

I know that creamsteak wants to solidify a few things still regarding the current setting,so I am holding off, but look for the second Tavern/City sometime next week.
'The Belching Orc Inn' in Rivenblight.

"OK,we now return you to your regularly scheduled battle against the ever-encroaching pop-up hordes and the insidious forces of email Spam..."

I've already added a link to the offical character sheet in the character thread, its been there for a few days. I'll email players about sprawling character backrounds, but what kind of alternatives can I give them, if any? Should I suggest they start a background only thread (or should I start one)? Overall your suggestion sounds good, I like having everybody have the same format sooner then later.

I may have used the wrong word, sprawling.I don't mind long backgrounds (I post them myself for some characters).
What I meant was for them to merely edit the paragraphs, not the content.

A BG should look like this:

Jorgus hails from the Kingdom of Ramdarl, high in
the mountains of the World's Edge. Having spent
most of his early life toiling with his father and
brothers as a Carpenter, the young Halfling felt
that his talents were being wasted building walls
and homes and longed for the Adventurous life...

A minor thing, really.

Actually, it only sprawls across the screen if something is forcing the screen to be very wide. The text in the Code block doesn't wrap automatically. This is a problem with entries with a nonfixed length, such as abilities. If we require anything beyond the length of the fixed items to be broken down, the forum will autowrap the rest.

Btw, this has changed with the recent updates. Before, if a post was too wide to fit on the screen, only that post would be widened accordingly. Now all posts on the screen are widened.

If MacBeth or LEW Judge would have rights to modify posts, then he could fix those himself without a problem. For now, the only post really going out of bound is Kahuna Burger's new char. If he/she could break up her abilities line, things would work out better.

Are we going to fix things up for 800x600 or 1024x768? How many people are still using 800x600?

on the bright side, this being the standard format will help reduce my character generation tendencies. I'll eventually redo my other characters to the order used, but I'm not going through trying to make that code look decent again any time soon. :(

Instead of referring to a particular poster's character sheet style, could one of the judges simply edit the first post of the Character Thread to include a sample of the preferred character sheet?

It'd be a lot easier than trying to sift through three dozen posts and hoping to get the correct variation.
