(Discussion) General Part VII

Not open for further replies.
Later today I'm planning on pruning the forum some. I'm going to hopefully be able to take all the approved content, and post it to one "heap" thread that holds all the approved proposals, and toss out the proposal discussion threads. This is to clean up the forum a bit and get everything into one place so we can slowly put it out in order.

Second, I'm going to go through all the adventures that I believe are completed, find there experience reward totals, and post those reward totals here. The threads will stay in place, no worries there. This is just so that we can get experience numbers confirmed for all characters.

Also, I'd like to eventually make it a rule that the DM must list all rewards recieved by the characters in the "last post" or so of an adventure. This way we can reference it later. It'll be a lot of work to do it in a backlog, for adventures already over, but I want to enforce this for all future adventures. It just seems important to me, especially now that we have certified crafting rules. That way we can track what's been sold, etc.

OK, I've gone through and reduced the number of proposals that will appear to non-moderators to something like 15. These are 15 that I either wasn't able to decide on what to do with, were new, or otherwise unclear.

Everything is still on the hard drive, but they won't be visible unless you ask me to uncover one of them. This is just to increase the number of "useful" threads we get on the front page. I'll provide the links to the remaining threads here:

(Proposal) Learner Prestige Class
(Proposal) All things Ieranth - The Hex Lord
(Proposal) Death and Retirement
(Proposal) Dervish of Sairundan
(Proposal) Delmontes Technique Feat Chain, Part 2
(Proposal) Let's build the LEW Pantheon!
(Proposal) All things Tyorlah
(Proposal / Small God) Cloudeater
(Proposal) Academy of the Chromatic Order
(Proposal) Alternate Ranger Ability -- Scent or Animal Companion [Approved]
(Proposal / City) Severus
(Proposal) All things Russna
(Proposal) The Green Eyed Lady

CS, I don't see any mention of the threads regarding changing the base ability scores. There was talk of increasing it to 31, 32 or 33 or whatever. As I recall, there was considerable support for this. Did I miss something with this? Has it been discarded? It ought to be settled one way or another.

OK, I'm looking over deities and demigods (trying to figure them all out and everything), and I'm going to note some glaring awkwardness:

1st) Gliran and Antonidas are "basically" the same guy. They have the exact same domains, but Gliran is a higher degree of deity, with a slightly different alignment.

I'm suggesting we merge the two of them and make it an intermediate or greater deity, toss in an extra domain for "machines" or something along those lines, and call it one god.

2) Delanor should either be promoted to an ocean god and such, or should probably be demoted to a lesser deity (currently intermediate). I'm saying this cause I think he has a very finite set (merchants, marines, and such). So either broaden the scope some, perhaps all the way to god of the oceans (and perhaps greater deity status) and that would help.

3) Verdante or some other nature god should probably be promoted.

4) I guess, along the same lines, the Sun God Hyrag should be promoted.

5) I just want some clarification that the 7 sisters are all set up.

6) I wanted to ask GW if Jareth should really be a "Death" god. I just want to make sure, since he has 4 domains and it seems to me like luck makes more sense. He is a god of games afterall. And now that I've introduced Seto, we have overlap with the death domain and assassins there.

And I'm also looking for more ideas along these lines. I'd like to straighten things up a bit.

Man, there's already more dieties than here than players...

Wouldn't it be better to group em up in different faiths and religions somehow? I'm pretty fond of multiple, but limited pantheon, like the seven gods (Maiden, Warrior, Wanderer, etc..) found in George R.R. Martins Fire & Ice tale.

Would also enable people to create religions that do not necessarily follow those greyhawk-like pantheon..
i.e. maybe an all-alignment ancestor cult (thinking Eldar in 40K), a religion revering powerful D&D Monsters (like the Beholder or Dragon Worship from FR), a religion based on the worship of a philosophical/abstract principal (maybe for Psionsics), specific racial religions, a reincarnations faith (whose priests would yield insight and powers from past & future lifes, rather than gods.. Fate Domain, Destiny Domain, Rebirth Domain.. etc..), a faith revering the earth/the land in general (earth mother.. or something.. could also rever the sky or something similar), a religion following the teachings and prinicpals of a great sholar, martyrer or hero (but not a diety), etc.. etc..

In any case, I think any diety you take up should include a detailed write up about the earthly representation of the diety (church, temples, shrines, heros, history of the faith, representation in Orussus, etc..).

Without any link to the game world, you'll just have a never-ending list of random scrambling of names and domains, tailor-made for some priest or another and forgotten again quickly after that.

They're rather different in an active/passive way. Antonidas is much more of a scholary sage type, and Gliran is an active, if somewhat immoral spellcaster.
What I could see though, is turning Antonidas into a mystery cult of sorts, as Gliran Antonidas.

These problems are related in that no one has dared to tackle greater deities yet. I agree with promoting Verdante and Hyrag, Delanor should be denoted.

Ayratha(?), Phyrah, Sela, Shurassa, Russna, Ulura.
If Ayratha is one of the sisters, then one of them is still missing, presumably Tyorlah.

Sure, but let's work on those deities we have already first.

That's already the case, as evidenced by groups like the mortalists. Nothing stops the proposing of such religions.

This is a micro-proposal, in a way. I'd like to have the following feats added to the list of item creation feats in the Heap thread. The first one was accidentally deleted. The Craft Construct feat is in the MM (monster feats file of the SRD). The rest are Psionic item creation feats.
I didn't bother with the epic item-related feats yet, since that's a long time until it is important.
*I based the Craft points for the Construct creation feats on the fact that they cannot be taken until 6th level.

Code:
[b]Item Creation Feats[/b]
 [b] Craft Points[u]
Feat Prerequisites Gained[/u][/b]
Craft Masterwork Item None 100

Craft Construct Magic Arms and Armor, Wondrous Item	3,000*

Craft Cognizance Crystal	Manifester level 3rd 1,500
Craft Dorje Manifester level 5th 2,500
Craft Psicrown Manifester level 12th 6,000
Craft Wand Manifester level 5th 2,500
Craft Psionic Arms and Armor	Manifester Level 5rd 2,500
Craft Psionic Construct Psionic Arms and Armor, Universal Item	3,000*
Craft Universal Item Manifester level 3rd 1,500
Imprint Stone Manifester level 1st 500
Scribe Tattoo Manifester level 3rd 1,500

I just discovered a fairly important error on my character sheet, one that slipped past me when I built the character and one that slipped past the judges when the character was approved. Basically, I intended the character to be built with all class skills, but misread the chart and selected one cross-class skill by mistake. I'd prefer to substitute a class skill at the earliest opportunity, if possible. What would be the most graceful way of dealing with this situation?
