(Discussion) General Part VII

Rystil, so far nobody has said "no psionics", so even if the DM of the next available adventure disallows Lasair, the odds that you would get shut out of the following 2 or 3 adventures are slim, indeed.

Bront, I never gave psionics a second thought until there was a big discussion about it a few months ago. Several people generated psionic characters as a result of it. At that time I was in no hurry to generate a second character, but read through the SRD and decided to give it a try whenever I did. Then Animus dropped an adventure on the Inn when there were only one or two characters there (the Inn had just cleared out for a couple of other adventures that had just started), and issued a cry for more characters to get the new adventure started. Well, Animus being a first-time DM here, I couldn't let a good adventure die for lack of interest, so I generated my telepath. Animus was a little surprised to find people wanting to play psionics, but graciously allowed my character and a soulknife to join the party. Warning: Issuing a call for more characters is like turning on the faucet on a fire hose...there are now seven characters being played in the Curse of House Thimbrall.

I don't have XPH (yet) either, but I do have a stack of SRD printouts on psionics nearly 2" thick!

I want to print out the psionics section (or some of the more common stuff), but my parents would kill me. (2 fricking inches? wow)

Well, until you get to high levels, psionics are pretty balanced. But, the power point deal (mana pool in essence) makes some people wary. As I said in another thread. I could cast decerebrete enough times to remove a small cities brain stems.

Speaking of evil paladins, well, evil in general... was there ever a consensus made on DMs limiting their adventures to certain types of characters?

Sure there was - in a way. If you check the Guide to Living Enworld, you'll find the following under the Dungeon Masters header:

If an adventure is approved, then the DM can begin recruiting if necessary. The Red Dragon Inn is the place to go to find a party of adventurers. The DM can choose to disallow characters from joining, as they need to. It is their adventure, and they should have the right to decide who can play.
So, if you want to disallow evil characters from your adventure, you're free to do so. (though in most cases, I'd encourage that no such restrictions are placed).

I'll look over the spell changes later and post an updated version before posting it into the heap thread.

I've got a quick question for you folks, how much "adventuring time" experience do our characters earn each month?

That will be handed out by DMs when they give XP out in their adventures.

That said it will be something like 100xMonths played in the adventure or 50xLvlxMonths, I can't remember if we actually accepted the proposal for the second version or not.

Nope, it's still 100 XP/month, regardless of level. Seehttp://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=123672 for the proposal that's still sitting on the table yearning for a little attention from judges. Hey judges, whaddya say?

Spycat, the same goes for you, if you want to create an "evil paladin" (whatever you want to call it). Although in the past there has been a general feeling that LEW doesn't want new core classes, you could always try to persuade people to change their minds. (I personally don't mind new core classes, but I'm not a judge.)
Although it could be a prestige class.

I'm not sure what spycat had in mind by "evil paladin" if not either (a) something akin to the Blackguard, or (b) a core class mirroring the paladin but with alignment changes. Since the Blackguard is already SRD, I went with (b).

Mmm... good point. I'd probably just recommend go towards the Blackguard route, then.

Thanks Erekose13 and orsal!.

On a completely unrelated note, I've got a proposal out there for four new feats (Armor Optimization feats) that's received 2 yes votes. How many does it need to become approved? I ask because the feats seem like they'll be quite useful for Kahuna Burger's Gladiator PrC.
