Which of these options do you support as additions to LEW

This poll is going to be used to help gauge how our community feels about allowing material beyond the limits of the System Reference Document. Hopefully everyone's familiar with the termonology, so here's just a brief description...

System Reference Document - This is the most balanced and public material to allow at our messageboard "table." Basically, it's requisite. We also consider anything in the core rulebooks to be in this category, because the core is necessary to really play 3.5e.

Limited Open Game License - This means that we can add extra concepts from Open Game sources to our setting. This would include, for instance, the craft points system on page 97 of Unearthed Arcanna. This is a possible solution to our "item creation" problems, and although it will cause some people to make necessary changes to their characters, it could work out.

Wizards "Official" non FR Materials - If your voting for this, it means that your willing to approve a blanket of material that won't necessarily be available to every player. We can always provide the information on a person to person basis as necessary (and characters would all be required to have full special ability descriptions on their records). As a start, we would accept the minis handbook and the complete series. The monster books (draconomicon and the undead book coming out in october) would be likely cannidates to be accepted later. Book of Vile Darkness and Book of Exalted Deeds might recieve consideration, though they are both less likely than the above.

Wizards "Official" setting specifics - Eberon, Forgotten Realms. Products like Underdark and Unapproachable East contain information that isn't entirely setting specific (like items, creatures, etc.) could be borrowed up.

Third Party Material - This means we would give limited approval to third party books. This has a whole subset that would need to be polled over on a case by case basis.

i voted 'House Rules and Submissions' presuming it included all above categories. However I recommend only up to 3rd party publications as a standby with 'Houserules' to fit some non-core material.

For instance I personally love the Courtier class from Rokugan. However some aspects of it might require houseruling to fit into LEW.

It goes with out saying that you would provide a thread for the non-core material that has been approved for use and include all changes to make fits, yes?

Things need to be organized. I've always intended to create a thread that follows the convention:

Table of Contents (Post 1)
Links to every post in this thread

Post 2
Linked from Table Of Contents, contains all the info on (for example) character creation
Links to PC thread

Post 3
Linked from toc, cointains (for example) the map of LEW and any LEW related information. May include links to old GD threads

Post 4
As above, but about all of our approved non-core material. Contains links to a thread where all this info is compiled with links.

and it would have about 10-15 such posts. Every time I start on it, I end up distracted or I can't get the order right.

Ask for help from amongst those others guys (not me I work all day :) ).

I'm sure someone could do the actuall work if you give the exact breakdown of what to put where... Did that make sense?

Alright, from the data provided:

We have 2 voters who support using the SRD alone for character generation, etc.

13/17 support OGL and Homebrews
Given that data now, I'm going to 100% support these as I always have.

So we are going to continue to use the SRD + approved Homebrews and OGL.

I'm going to give the poll a little more time, though.

I voted for SDR only. Basically because it means that everyone is one the same page, and has access to the same resourses. LEW Homebrew material could be added, because this would also be available to everyone. I suppose that my impression of LEW was that it would be all internally self contained. A kind of level creation field.

I would think that as long as there are no copyright issues involved, we'd be able to post (or post links to, if the material is on the web) anything we decided to use. So we can use OGL as well as homebrew and still have everyone "on the same page". But I agree with you, we shouldn't use anything the details of which we can't conveniently disseminate.

If I had access to all the information, I could probably get this done for you in a week.

If you'd like, I could probably even keep it updated for you.

Oh... and don't forget, guys... You can select more than one option on this poll.

I threw in my two cents for SRD only and LEW Homebrew. I almost chose SRD only, but think it could be cool to make PrCs and Domains as we did for the gods. I think, while an exercise of creativity, it could make it more difficult for players and GMs if Homebrew material dominates... as it stands with no deviations from the SRD, anyone can come here cold and GM or play... that's a big advantage in my book.

The balance is between keeping the interest of 'old' players/GMs who might be tired of the SRD while still being attractive to 'new' players/GMs who may be turned off by overwhelming amounts of supplemental rules - even Homebrewed ones.

I should also like to point out that I think Homebrew rules shouldn'tneccessarily be an umbrella to publish other non-SRD materials because eventually we'd have as big a hodge-podge mess as if we admitted any rules at all.
