Disintegrate v. Iron Door

There is no difference between an unattended and an attended object in terms of the effects of the spell. The only difference is in when/if the object actually gets a save to mitigate the effect.
Unattended objects automatically fail all saves, unless they are magic items. (PHB, page 166, Saving Throws)

Has everyone in this thread been affected by the stupid gas, or something? Yes, I include myself in that.

It seems so. ;-)

But it looks like its sorted out now:

1) unattended item: disintegrated
2) attended item that fails save: disintegrated
3) attended item that makes its save but has less than 5d6 HPs: disintigrated
4) attended item that makes its save and has more than 5d6 HPs: survives! (but damaged)

(Personally, I'd like to see:

1) unattended item: takes 24d6
2) attended item that makes save: 5d6
3) attended item that fails save: 24d6

but I guess thats some strange 1E holdover.)
