Distracting sheild

Final Attack

First Post
Distracting sheild is confusing.
The summary says (p196):

Target hit by opportunity attack takes –2 to attack rolls

However the details say -

Distracting Shield [Fighter]

Prerequisites:
Wis 15, fighter, Combat Challenge
class feature

Benefit:
If you hit a foe with an attack granted by
your Combat Challenge class feature, the target takes
a –2 penalty to attack rolls until the start of your next
turn.

Did wizard intend CC to be an OoA?

The rule in the past was always that when the text and a table differed, the text was considered the primary source and was considered correct.

I imagine the same is true here.

Sounds like some needed errata, however.

There have been strong hints that prerelease versions of the rules let CC be an OA. That was changed for the release version (for balance reasons, probably), but the table wasn't updated.

Yeah,
It _really_ does look that way. Sad as I think that A) many of the OA bonuses were meant to also work on CC, and B) it makes it a lot more "expensive" for a fighter to use an interrupt power. I wish they'd made it an OA that you can only take advantage of once/round.
