Divine Casting Classes

I'd like to alter the spellcasting for all divine casting base classes to all use a similar spellcasting mechanic to that of the Complete Divine's Spirit Shaman. Has anyone given this much thought or done this yet? If so, any pointers?

Rather than having the divine casters (Cleric & Druid are my biggest considerations) cast as many times per day as the Sorcerer does (base 6), I'd like to leave them with a similar number of spells to cast per day as their core class but still spontaneously cast from their retrieved spells for the day. Likely I'll be looking at divine casting with fewer spells/day than the Spirit Shaman's base 6/day but will also have a higher base retrieved spells/day than the Spirit Shaman.

I'd also like to keep the open spell slot mechanic available to divine casters with this variant and have considered allowing a max of 1 <open> retrieved spell slot per spell level.

Any other thoughts on this, good/bad?
