Divine/Non-Divine Rankings

First Post
I have a demon rising in power in an adventure setting I'm working on that has clef a part of the Abyss, sailed it like a Ship of Chaos, and has successfully moored the new demi-plane in uncharted regions of the Astral Plane away from the influence of the great lords of the Abyss.

This new demi-plane is a private underworld and the demon in question is stealing departing souls of all alignments from numerous realm worlds. The Heavens are on the verge of handling this situation.

Two questions:

Q1: When, at what 'level', can a demon summon souls to fill an Underworld?

Q2: And what part of the Heavens would take action to correct such an imbalance on the Cosmos?

There's no actual rules for this sort of thing..

If he can actively drag souls into his own private underworld, then at least while he's there he's a full-blown demon lord.

The Heavens (and those parties in Hell that disprove of this guy stealing their harvest) may act whenever they please, though they may choose to send a band of mortals on the quest instead..

I don't think there are any "official" rules on this, but ....

1) I'd say any demon with one divine rank. Or, if you're not using them, any demon with a CR of 21+

2) I think they're always in buisness as far as this kind of stuff goes.

Demon Lord would be a divine rank would it not?

Now to follow up on my original second question

Q: Roughly how many Archsolars would it take to to defeat a demi-plane housed of two Demon Lords, Two Lesser Demon Lords, and about 50,000 run-of-the-mill demons?

This is the critical question -- because a War in on the verge of comencing.

heh. probably 6 arch solars to take care of the demon lords, plus around 5 great wyrm dragons (good alignment) and a corresponding horde of lesser solars and other celestial agents to take care of the rest or things of corresponding rank. heck. throw in a demi-god(ess) or three for good measure (i go in for overkill here) ^_^. 4 demon lords are a handfull. especially if they're nearing godlike status.

Thanks Kirinkle -- that add or clarifies the perpective I was initialy invisioning:

Here are the opposing armies

On Home Turf:

2 (newly crowned) Demon Lords

2 Demons of middling ranks (captains)

50,000 dretch-like demons

Attacking:

1 Archsolar

19,000 Solars

...and a rear echelon of some dozen or so lackadaisical full blown Gods

wow that is overkill...

100 solars could do in the whole lot by themselves.

Agreed :)

This assumes of course that neither are there other Abyssal Lords warring on this newly crowned demon lord, nor are there any Devils doing the same thing. The celestials need to act far less often than you might think since the fiends will rip each other apart half the time before the upper planes would need to take action.

Maybe it is not overkill because the demi-plane is attuned to the lords well enough that it can dump some of the angels out into the astral each round.
