Yes, our DM has bought Complete Divine, and I looked over both classes.
Although the Spirit Shaman came close to what I was aiming for, the overall 'feel' of the class was too different from what I was looking for.
The Favoured Sould was totally inappropriate for the campaign, so I dismissed it almost instantly.
As for power comparison, I must admit the class seems to be a bit underpowered, but so far I haven't had any problems with that during play.
This may also have something to do with the other characters being played:
- Half-elf - Rogue
- (homebrew) Lizardman - Rogue
- Human - Monk
The general playstyle is to go for flavor, not power.
I plan on taking practiced spellcaster for both the divine sorcerer as the arcane sorcerer to make up for the lost spellcasting levels once I get the chance, so that should also increase the effectiveness of my character.
The general idea of the character is currently to have a very wide range of spells, at the cost of access to high level spells.
I do have one issue left:
Once I get to lvl 18, I'm unsure how to progress.
I will have Divine Sorcerer 4/Arcane sorcerer 4/Mystic Thuerge 10. I won't be able to take Epic levels until I reach lvl 20, so how am I going to get there?
Seems a waste to continue with alternating DivSor/ArcSor lvls, and Arcane Hierophant has been disallowed. (just too powerfull for our DM's taste, and I agree)
