Divine Specialization from Book of Righteous

Is this feat balanced?

Divine Specialization

This feat allows the cleric to spontaneously cast spells from one of his domains the same way he can cast heal or inflict spells.

At no point can a cleric have this feat for more than one domain.

I think so. Now some domains might make it unbalanced becasue some domains in other products are too powerful. But this feat and the core domains should cause no problems.

Now the feat specifically says it allows spontaneous casting from one of the two domains your cleric has.

Considering that wording and balance issues would you not allow it to be used to spont cast spells from a PrC Domain the cleric may have picked up?

I think if you're using the "prestige domains" idea, I wouldn't. Some of those are pretty potent.

But that concept has largely fizzled out. If a PrC or something gave them an "extra" normal domain, there'd be nothing wrong with allowing them to use it for that domain. You can still only use it for one domain, overall. It'd be no different from him taking that domain and the feat at the start.

IMO: When the cleric selects this feat, he chooses the domain to be specialized, and this domain cannot be changed, no matter what developments ( PrC ,whatever ) occur that allow access to other domain spells.

I'd say it's not balanced at all. Bear in mind, that just using the core books, it allows a cleric to spontaeneously cast heal and resurrection. Furthermore, it allows an evil cleric to overcome his only real problem - a lack of spontaeneous healing.

Given that the closest wizard equivalent to this spell is the second tier in a feat chain, and allows him to spontaeneously cast one single spell, your feat is far, far too good.

Cut it down to a single spell from one of his domains, and I'm fine with it.
