Ok, so why aren't you getting full price (or whatever that means when selling to a merchant) when you sell your own gear? Stuff you had made for yourself, by other party members or yourself? "I made this +3 blade myself, but I now have a +4 Frostbrand, so I can use the money more than the sword."

I did this sort of thing in just about every Traveller game I ever ran.

But D&D? It doesn't feel right, at least the way it was presented.
