SRD said:A swarm’s attacks are nonmagical, unless the swarm’s description states otherwise. Damage reduction sufficient to reduce a swarm attack’s damage to 0, being incorporeal, and other special abilities usually give a creature immunity (or at least resistance) to damage from a swarm.

I find it hard to believe that someone who may have hung from iron hooks on chains for 5000 years before being allowed to have his skin flayed daily while half submerged in lava in the service of a demon prince or archduke would find the attacks of mundane insects or vermin to be terribly troubling.
