I voted 6-11, but that's because the party just made 11th level. I suspect that as they level up higher, I'll vote differently.

6-11 has a lot of cool monsters without so many abilities that it makes your mind explode.

However, I definitely prefer to have people start at lvl 1, and work to get to those levels. The fun isn't in BEING good, it's in GETTING good, IMHO.

As stated above all levels are good, but i don't like starting a game at anything but 1st level. People have a tendancy of not noticing the subitilies of 'getting things done' when they didn't have to do it at 1st to 5th level.

All levels! I want all levels!!! I always start my games off low. Except for one instance when I was (please nobody take this as a cue to turn this into an anti-lm/gng thread, you know who you are) running a more lethal game with no divine magic (dead gods wear plaid) and rare arcane magic.

But really, I think there's something good about every level. If I ever get a party up to epic levels, I will most likely start a new standard campaign and play the epic game less regularly. But that just because of the additional preparation required at higher levels.

I voted for 11-15. I like DM'ing at all levels and usually want PC's to start at 1st level, but for me as a DM and the style of play I like, the higher levels allows me to make things the most interesting. I can throw a continuous mix of challenges at them which they can handle without too much downtime.

I do not have to worry too much of throwing too much at them, and for me it is a more fun challenge to try to make a bunch of kobolds a challenging fight for the PC's then to have to figure out which monsters and other encounters are not too much for the PC's to handle.

Part of this is because most of my campaigns are not very magic item heavy (i.e. making REAL magical items (i.e. not potions and scrolls) is simply too costly and arduous for most people to do, so not that many are around), this means that more prowess and abilities will have to come from the PC's themselves.

I like all levels since I like to see my player's progression but mid-range is best. They aren't so powerful that you can't really challenge them but they'll walk through cannon fodder just like real heros should.

I prefer 6-11. Sometimes I'll start the group at about 3rd level to get things going. Beyond 11th level requires me to be more on my toes to keep the party challenged. Frankly, I don't have the time I used to have to prepare for higher level challenges. By the time the players get to 11, 12 or 13th level, I'm ready to change things up and begin a new campaign.
