Hi

Ok, i just read that this product is going to be collectable :(

That truly, truly, SUCKS...

I was looking forward to this so much :(

WoTC DnD Miniatures = DnD Miniatures: The Gathering (of everyones money)

This is truly BAD, corporate suits trying to suck out every cent out of us they can...

I already gave up my Magic addiction (years ago)

Like the saying goes...

Fool me once, shame on you...
Fool me twice, shame on me...

I have no problem with it being collectible. If someone doesn't like it, they can always get fantasy-style minis from Reaper, Ral Partha or Citadel.

It always entertains me to hear people rip on these minis as being collectable. Every mini is collectable, all of the companies sepend on peoples compulsion to want almost every type of mini available. Besides how many times have I read that people have 30+ resource books in their D&D 3E collection. Do people buy these books out of serious need or more to say they "have" it?

It is not the fact that you can collect the minis that angers people, but the fact that they come in closed, randomized packs like magic cards. I buy more d20 sourcebooks than I need, but I am not sure I'd buy "booster packs of sourcebooks" an masse just to get that rare FRCS.

Yes and both mage knight and trading card games are very successful product lines. Either way it is peoples compulsion to buy products to add them to their collection that drives sales.

I was going to say the same thing.

If I were you I would just wait a few weeks after the first release. Then ebay will have the bulk of peoples unwanted figs at low prices.

While at first I was troubled at the collectible nature of the miniatures, upon further reflection I've decided that it is really not a big deal.

First of all, the commons will most likely be monsters we all can use (and a lot of them at that): orcs, goblins, kobolds, etc. So, ending up with a ton of them is not bad.

Also, as others have stated, a secondary market WILL emerge so you'll be able to dump the ones you don't want and get the ones you do at a reasonable price.

And at about $1.25 each...they're a bargain.

So, I'm happy.
