Hello,

Slight thread hijack, but not really.

I will definitely be getting some of the minis and would love to trade, but has anyone seen them in Canada yet? I have browsed several boards and only seen one Canadian writing in (from Victoria, B.C.) who had laid his hands on minis. Anyone else out there? Anyone in Winnipeg?

Cheers :)

We have them here in Calgary. Sentry Box had 'em right out on the front counter. I am the proud owner of a Troll and a Umber Hulk, among other nasties. :)

The new Dnd miniature sets are out. If you want to trade for a specific group of creatures, go to http://www.maxminis.com High demand creatures seem to be the Earth Elemental, the Mind Flayer, the Owl Bear, the Ogre, and the Elf Pyromancer.

Yeah, after one look at the mini list ( ages ago ) , I knew that the "monsters" were gonna be harder to find on the secondary market. These are what will appeal to D&D players who have no interest in the mini "game". MORE MONSTERS, PLEASE!

Remember this is just the first set. I'm sure we will see expansions to these as time goes on. I would like to one day see every monster from the MM in a miniature.

I'm not surprised that the rares are going for higher amounts on eBay. People always tend to get worked up when a new collectable thing comes out. in a few months those 'rares' are going to be pretty common at your FLGS and on eBay. It will be easier to pick and chooose those sellers offering it for less.

I hope you are right!

This has been my whole problem with the collectibility angle from the start and it's something I've harped on several times. Too many character types, not enough monsters.

I'll be skipping this material and picking up the themed packs in the future.

Well my friends and I got some of these today. 4 boosters and 1 starter pack between us for a total of 48 miniatures. All totalled we had 3 duplicates (all commons). I am quite happy with these. the paints jobs are actually good in several cases (Shambling mound, Lidda, Paladin of Heronious, Barghest, Wraith heck even the commoner with a sycthe was good) and the poses tended to be fairly dramatic (the Tiefling Captain has a great pose). I ended up with the 3 of of the boosters and plan to try and collect all of them. We were able to use many of the minis in tonights game too - it was really nice to have painted minis that the DM could tell apart!
