Here's my loose theory about what happened with those items. The seller set the price so high because he really didn't want to sell them.
If seen this sort of thing before with gamers. A wargaming friend of a friend of mine had all these historical miniatures that he collected over the years. And then he got married. A couple years into the married, the wife wanted him to get rid of most of his wargaming stuff.
So he went on ebay and posted all of his items in one bid, with $20,000 being the reserve. Now, he had a lot of miniatures, but they were worth a lot less than 20k.
Of course, they didn't sell.
"Sorry, honey, I tried to sell them but I couldn't." lol
I have no idea how the wife reacted.
