Do artifacts trump other magic?

When a monster (say a t-rex) is dominated by two different druids and given conflicting commands (attack the other druid), the two druids make opposed charisma checks. How about when it's one druid's magic vs. the magic in an artifact (such as a naga's crown)? I tend to say that's still the same sort of magic, but a little part of me wants to allow something more for the artifact. Does it make much of a difference if it's a major artifact instead of just a normal artifact? As an example of the power of artifacts, keep in mind that if the t-rex were suddenly in an anti-magic field, it'd still be dominated by the individual wearing the naga's crown.

Actually, that might be a good idea. Anyway to tie an AMF to the t-rex? That'd make him a pretty impressive opponent until the party fighter managed to get involved.

If there is a caster level for the artifact and the spell ,the charisma check seems correct, it's only a spell even if it comes from an artifact, may be you can give some bonuses to reflect the power of the object or the differences between caster levels.
