Do magical tomes stack?

I know that the maximum bonus a character can recieve is +5 to a single attribute in a lifetime, but does a +2 and a +3 tome of dexterity give a bonus of +5 to dex or do they overlap for a total bonus of +3?

Inherent bonuses like most other bonuses do not stack.

If you read a tome +1 then a tome +2 you will only have +2 to the attribute since they are separate bonuses.
