Do resistances stack?

My player is a genasi swordmage, and he's got armor that gives lightning and thunder resistance. I'd like to know, does that stack with his own personal resistance?

I made a tiefling fighter with a flamedrinker shield in the Character builder, and he had just 5 fire resist, but the builder might be buggy. Do you guys have any hard evidence?

Nope. No stacking; if you have two resistances to the same energy, you take the higher. For instance, if you have two sources that give you fire resistance, one 5 and one 10, your resistance is 10. If you have two that give you 5, it's just 5.
