Do We Know Enough For Players To Plan?

I think so.

Fighter, Warlord, Wizard, Warlock, Rogue, Ranger, Cleric, Paladin

And

Human, Dwarf, Night Elf, Blood Elf, Halfling, Dragonborn, Tiefling

There's rumors there might be a Secret Mystery Race, but the screenshots of the DDI tool confirm the classed.
Maybe I don't know enough about WoW, but I don't think Night and Blood Elves correlate with Elves and Eladrin.

I almost missed your clever input, though! But I see what you did there!

It was a jest of truly surpassing subtlety.

Tree hugging hippie elves/hoity-toity magic elves.

Yeah, yeah, Tolkein did it first. But WoW is a much more obvious influence on current D&D, as D&D has always mirrored what's hot in pop fantasy, be it sword&sorcery in the 70s or MMORPGs in the naughties.

I don't know, I'd still say Tolkien comes out ahead on this point.

But if the Eladrin turn out to have an addiction to magic I will retract my statement in favor of your analysis.

I suppose both are multi-planar, but the Eladrin do it very differently than the Blood Elves.

Ah, no, not really. I really have to read the whole thing to be able to decide.
Creating a new character always takes me ages. Even in CRPGs it can take me the better part of a day until I'm satisfied with a character. Planning characters is something I enjoy tremendously. Sometimes more than actually playing said characters which is probably why I generally end up being the DM... ^^
