Such delicate feathers....so easily ruffled.

I'd agree with you except that I'm not actually upset. I'm more puzzled by his response really. If you check out my opening post, I'm very obvious in that I was only being light-hearted about it all. Then if you read the replies, everyone is joking along or putting in comments regarding campaigns they'd run with low numbers of races and classes. Then out of the blue there's a comment that the whole thread is somehow not appropriate... Seems out of place really. It's as though you're with a group of people talking and joking around with each other and some stranger walks up and slaps you in the face. You gotta kind of wonder what HIS problem is really.
You'll also notice that after his "buck of water" style of post was made the entire mood was destroyed on this thread and no one's contibuted further to it. It's just too bad, and I'm left wondering why that poster felt such animosity towards my original post. I've re-read what I had written and I can't see what would be upsetting to anyone.
I dunno, maybe I'm reading more into his post than is really there, but that's how it came across to me when I first read it. I'd be ok with a post that disagreed with something i'd said for some reason. For instance, had I said "all gnomes make bad fighters because they're too small" and someone had replied with "I disagree, they're deadly with a gnomish pickaxe, plus they can have high strength scores too", then I would take that in stride. Everyone has the right to a difference of opinion. This by contrast felt like he said the equivalent of "you shouldn't post your opinions".
When people do stuff like that, it kinda puts a damper on what you feel like posting in future, you're not sure which of your next posts will get slammed by someone for no apparent reason. It's too bad really, everyone was having fun till then. :-(
Anyway, I feel like I'm making a mountain of a molehill with this long post, so I'm going to drop it now. It's not a big deal to me or anything, I just wanted to clarify my position on something that struck me as oddly antisocial behaviour. Oh well, there's plenty of other enjoyable threads going on here, and he's not likely to be slamming ALL of them. I'm sure I'll still be able to enjoy myself perfectly well elsewhere on Enworld.
