Do you apply a LA for Inherent bonuses?

At high levels it's easy for a wizard to give himself an Inherent Bonus, and because of the way the XP system works, if you simply go by level, the wizard will pick up more XP than other party members by virtue of being lower level.

So, GMs, when a PC wizard has given themselves a significant Inherent bonus, do you apply a LA to the wizard? You probably increase the CR of opponents with high stats, don't you? Is (for example) a Wiz 20 equivalent to a Wiz 18 with two +5 Inherent Bonuses? Do you slip the other PCs appropriate tomes?

No, it's part of his spellcasting ability, and just like a variation on using Item Creation feats to fashion permanent magic items that boost the same stuff. I wouldn't give a Level Adjustment for it.

Do you give LA for a Hat of Disguise? How about that juicy +6 Int item any wizard worth his wands is going to want?

Nope. The only thing I don't like about inherent bonuses is the fact that until high level they're unheard of, but then when the PCs all of a sudden have the cash/XP to drop on them, everyone has +5 to their favorite stat.

I think of inherent bonuses as a basic part of the wealth system, so no, I don't think giving LAs for having them is a good idea.
