It seems to me that d20 Modern isn't getting much support, and as a result many of you might turn to the pdf market for support materials...assuming anybody's even playing it.

Do you, or would you, buy d20 Modern support materials from RPG Now? What kind of stuff would you like to see? Do you want cool alt-earth settings, plug-in rules expansions (martial arts, magic, etc.), organizations and NPCs, or something else?

I have. I do. And I will, again.
And it depends on the product. Some are better than others, obviously.
I check RPGNow for D20 Modern PDFs, almost daily, to see what's new.
As for what I'd buy.... well... really it depends on the product.... Today I bought Weekend Warriors, strictly for the maps of the military base... It's something I need...
By the way.... Weekend Warriors is definitely worth the purchase even if for nothing BUT the maps... I'll read the adventure, later.

I like d20 modern products.
Generally, I buy a fair amount of stuff from rule and campaign supplements to actual gaming supplements like maps and counters as well as some modules.

Do I prefer pdf to print? depends entirely on the product. Some items are better as print items, while some are more suited to PDF.

What I buy depends on what is on offer, as well as what I feel I need for my own campaigns. And also dependent entirely on what my budget is looking like.

The last lot of purchases I made were modern backdrops... I find these useful as I don't have as much time as I'd like to spend simply on mapping. (though when time permits I actually just resort to autocad and make the damn maps that way or by hand)

Mind you right now I'm fairly cash poor so I think that I'll be holding off on any purchases till a later date.

Makes me wonder--how much *are* people playing d20 Modern? I had always assumed that it was one of the most-played RPGs there is. Of course nothing can compare to the D&D Colossus or even the Vampire: the Gathering legions...but aside from those two games I had the impression d20 Modern was quite well-established. Am I wrong? Does anyone have actual figures on this?

i'm an inveterate homebrewer so rules support / extensions are always welcome, but settings, NPCs, and organizations are things i reserve for myself. i don't tend to buy products that are exclusively focused in that direction.

however, i have a strong dislike of pdf products. i much prefer a print book to a pdf, so if a product is only available in pdf format i am likely to skip it. (on the other hand, i've bought a few books that were formerly pdf products -- the Modern Player's Companion and Darwin's World, to name two examples.)

I think D20 Modern does quite well at RPGNow. As a pdf publisher I'm always watching the top 10s to see what sells well. Nearly all modern stuff seems to have a good splurge in the top lists.

At least I hope this is something that is a trend as I have my own product due out soonish :).

I didn't think I would be interested personally in settings, but I've just aquired Hell on Earth and am sturck with lots of WW2 campaign ideas (mainly involving Nazis and demons). I also like the campaign notes in Blood and Fists.

Cheerio,

Ben, Malladin's Gate

So far I've purchased Modern Backdrops, Quickshots, and the Modern Players Companion. Two of the three were very solid purchases.

I don't have a preference when it comes to the pdf/print debate, I just buy what I like, and both formats have their drawbacks/advantages.

As for the popularity of d20 Modern, I can only speak for my group. While it'll never take the top spot, it's definitely a favorite!

If I may ask... Why do you dislike pdf products?

No hijacks on my watch, buddy!
well, i'm going to answer him anyway. ;)

i don't game near a computer. i have trouble reading lengthy texts on a computer screen. i don't have ready access to good printing facilities. (i don't even own a printer.) book collecting is as much a hobby of mine as role-playing.
