Do you have a nickname? Not online, I mean?

Yes, I do have a nickname, which every friend and family member (but no one in the "professional world") calls me - it's the initials of my first and middle name.

People have called me that since before kindergarten, and I have no idea why. It's just stuck, and that's what my friends and family call me.

Weird.

When I was a kid I used to get that thanks to the popularity of "The Dukes of Hazard." Thanks a lot; I'd forgotten all about being called J.D. "Boss" Hogg. :o

And it doesn't help that my middle name is David; I actually am J.D. Dyal.

i've had many. Dee, Dae, Dave, Davey, Temp, Tempo, Temper, Mr. T, Beave, and Steve.

Wow, so I'm not the only one.

My name is Eric, which is what family (and work, though I'm working on changing that there) calls me. Everyone else, including my wife, calls me Steev.

But I've had many many many nicknames through the years. Probably somewhere in the vicinity of 80 or 90. Seems that everywhere I went while growing up, I got another three or four.

My real name is Giles, but over the years I've been called:

Wolfman (I'm a hairy dude)
Savage: I slid into second and cut my knee on some gravel during a game in High School. I brushed off some dirt from my knee as I got up and then wiped away a bug on my cheek under the eye. Well, that got a blood smear under my eye that looked like warpaint, so I got the nickname that stuck for two years (until I graduated).
Psycho: I was a bit of a wild child in college...
Potter: I still get called this. It's my middle name and a few stoners found out and thought it was funny.
Most people either call me Giles or by my last name anymore.

Kane

S'ok. My middle name is Ray. Say "Tony Ray" with a Southern accent and you'll see why it's funny. ;)

Finch.

In fact, that's how I'm known by pretty much everyone in my field. (I think it may now be a verb, thanks to some of my stunts.)

The only real variant on it is 'Herr Finchler', which I picked up while running a crew on a forensic case --- they even labelled my helmet and everything. Oh well, at least it matched the beer mug...

I usually go by Moh. When I joined my first improv troupe years ago, the first character I played in the first scene I was ever in got named Moh. Since there was already an Aaron (my real name) in the group, they started calling me Moh to differentiate between us. The name stuck, and as I met more people through the group, more people used that name. Now that I've moved to California, the only people I knew when I first arrived had always known me as Moh, so pretty much everyone I've met since moving knows me as Moh.

"Kahuna burger" started off line, though it was more of a title than a nickname. My first name is Carla and I have one friend who calls me LaLa. we worked together at a grooming shop and she said with the driers on and dogs barking, when the boss said my name she would just hear a mushy "La La" sound. Then she discovered teletubbies, and for a while she would get me little dolls of the yellow one (named Lala, natch) forxmas and stuff. Its still a bit of a totem for me.

Well my nicknames are Nick my real name's Nicholas, Teeth 'cause apparently said teeth to many times in science class one day, Centaur and I have no idea why, Chewie or Chewbacca after my obsession with everyone's favorite wookie and sometimes Sid after Sid Vicious.
