Do you have a nickname? Not online, I mean?

My given name is Alexander.

Family and some friends (including Upper_Krust) call me Zander. It's not based on the character in Buffy called Xander; I've been known as Zander since I was a small kid which is to say decades before Buffy hit our screens.

A few people call me Alex but I'm not particularly fond of that.

My girlfriend calls me something endearing but unflattering based on the fact that I used to be obese - I'm normal weight now. But I'm not going to tell you what she calls me! :o

My surname is Simkin, hence my sig.

When I was in secondary school I was variously known as Smitkin, Schmitkin, Slim-Jim and even Slim-Jim Phantom as well as Alex and Zander.

Keeping track of who knows me as what is quite a chore. :p

I've always been a "Shane", though in high school I had two gamer friends that called me Big Red for a few years. Nicknaming wasn't common in the family, or my various schools.

"Eric" doesn't lend itself well to nicknaming. Though when I was about 7 I insisted that my mom call me "Ric". That lasted about an hour.

Let's see... in college a friend and I came up with nicknames for most of the people on our dorm floor. Mine was "Squid". There was no reason for it.

And during my teaching career one year a kid called me Noahdog, and there's another teacher who occasionally calls me that as a joke.

My name is Kathryn Gertrude, but mostly everyone calls me Gertie.

My dad calls me "Peanut"

Some friends started calling me the Gertuitous T, which shortend to the T, and then to just T, but that died away after a while.

My uncle Jimmy calls me Gertrudous.

Gertrudous...that sounds like a good PC name.

Name's Elizabeth. My friends started calling me Liz in the 4th grade and it stuck. So now, I'm pretty much Liz... unless you're one of my family members, then I'm still usually Elizabeth.

I always sign my full name because I love it: Elizabeth Jade.

Additionally, I'm Elizabeth Jade to my husband when he's in a romantic mood or writing me a letter.

My daddy calls me Princess, Squeaker, and Squeak. My first real serious boyfriend and his friends called me Tesko or Miss Tesko or Princess Tesko... sometimes I miss that nickname.

I enjoy my ENWorld handle a great deal and did not mind being called QueenD or Queenie at GenCon one tiny bit.

In short, yes I have a nickname. Several of them. :)

Not Richard but Dick. . . (punk rock reference which I hope Rich gets).

First thought in my head was something from "Handsome" Dick Maitoba of the Dictators, but then I remembered that it comes from the dead Milkmen, right?

Thought of another nickname I had for several years in college. My then fiance (not the one I married) and some of our friends took to calling me Ricardo and then just Ricard. Don't remember what started it, probably something on TV when we were drunk.

I also have a large number of friends and co-workers that call me LizzyB... that started in debate in high school and never died. Really, I think I hear that as often as I do Liz most of the time.

Given name is Phillip...go by Phil. Growing up I had a couple...

My mom called me "Flip", due to my penchant for somersaults and cartwheels. I think my favorite during high school was "Dirty Bonzo"...coined by a sardonic friend after I went through a "survivalist" phase in the late 1970s (a take off on Dirty Harry). I picked up "Little Patton" during my plebe year at West Point and ended up with "Duffy" by graduation time.

Not much since then, although my wife fondly refers to me as Jack@ss every once in a while :p!

My NickNames

My first name is James.

Family: My parents call me James. My sister calls me Jim as do most other people.

Friends: My close friends call me Duck, which originates from highschool. Some of the cheerleaders and others who just saw the movie Sixteen Candles" on TV thought I looked like the chinese character referred to as "Long Duck Dong". That worked its way down to Duck by my close friends, still remains today. (I am not at all Asian, I just have an astigmatism which slightly reshapes the eye to be somewhat football like.)

Wife: My wife calls me Jimushka.
