Does a Yahoo-Group count as a website?

Hmm, I forgot to take that into consideration. I guess it counts more as a website than if you had nothing but my initial question was to people who have actually created something themselves. If I could go back and edit the poll, I would probably add a choice for "No, but I have a forum/board/group." Oh well.

Bwuhahaha!

I have a difficult enough time trying to prepare for the next session, never mind creating and maintaining a web-site.

If you post rules, mechanics, and crunchy stuff on your site, what do you need to do to be safe? Can you just post the OGL license? How do you know if you need to or if the content you have posted is a no-no?
You have to post the OGL license, and the d20 license if you're content is d20. You need to update your Section 15, and you need the little d20 logo (again, if it's d20.) Also, if it's d20, there are a number of other rules about content and such.

Personally, I forewent the whole d20 thing, so technically my site is OGL only. That also makes it much easier to not worry about content approval and stuff like that.

I have a web site for my campaign. It includes the following:
  • List of NPCs encountered with a summary of who they are
  • Calendar of events that have happened
  • List of quests (task list), current and completed
  • Places they've visited with maps of the cities and descriptions
  • Party members with portraits, current magic items, and wish list.
  • Digital versions of handouts I've given to them
It's mainly used as a repository for the players to use as an archive, since we meet in person. It's run on Sharepoint. We also have an active forum to discuss things between sessions. I can't post the URL because of OGC limitations, like the others.

My yes explained.

We have a nice MediaWiki setup for ease of use and quick changes. It was used heavily when we started the campaign, but use has dwindled. Just about the only thing that is kept up to date is our characters.

Oh, yeah, Barsoom's been up for... geez, six years now? It's gotten pretty massive over the years and there's a LOT of information snookered away in there.

http://barsoom.hyboria.net/

I use it mainly to provide my players with background information on my world, with access to rules specific to Barsoom, and I keep a journal there (which is entirely different than my Barsoom Tales story hour -- same story, different hour).

The site is usually called up during play as players reference details ("Where's Cadencia again? And when did we meet those girls with the horns on their heads?") -- one player has printed off every page on the site and brings it to every game.

It started more as a way to teach myself HTML than anything else. I now create websites for most games I run, and I try to stay on top of the latest technologies. I wrote Perl scripts to generate Journal pages, I taught myself PHP to create dynamic menus, it's been a lot of fun. Translated the whole site from table-based to CSS layout.

I like web design. I like DMing. Two great tastes that go great together.

Oh, and my site is in violation of so much copyright law that putting the Open Gaming License on it just seemed sort of dumb. Yeah, I'm a thief. Somebody wants to squawk, I can change things.

I think I've probably had my website going for 10 years now (IT early adopter and web fiend :))

Currently living at http://www.starguild.freeserve.co.uk/frp/ for the fantasy role playing stuff, although there is a lot of other things on the site too (sci-fi rpg, photos, palmOS, Bible stuff etc).

The campaign information includes campaign setting details, general house rules, campaign house rules, regional feats, all that kind of stuff.

Cheers
