How do you keep track of your miniatures on the battlemat without permanently damaging them? I would worry little stickers would leave glue residue on them if I ever removed the sticker, and I dont' want to write directly on the plastic either.

For WotC mini's that are identical, I put a little drop of paint on the bases to tell them apart. So I might have "zombie - red", "zombie - blue", "zombie - white", etc. in my combat spreadsheet.

The paint comes off easily if need be.

(FWIW, I use Vallejo Game Color, which I have for painting my non-WotC figs).

I use file labels that I cut to a size just large enough for a number. I then number each of the same mini. I don't really worry about residue, as I figure if I want to remove the sticker & get the mini in good trading condition a simple swab with a warm wet cloth should work fine.

I'm a biochemist. We use these little plastic tubes in lab to hold liquid samples called Eppindorf tubes. You can buy these little white tags "tough tags" that are small circular stickers to use with them. I use these for my minis and they don't leave any residue.

Good idea. I was going to use wire labels for making an auto wiring harness -- the labels can be had at any auto parts store and are quite tiny --

I also use a dab of whiteout and a pen to differentiate multiple copies of a mini.

and they freeze quite nicely without the glue losing its holding power

I use colored Post-It flags, put on the bottom of the base. If the colors aren't enough, I just write numbers on the flags. Also handy for identifying ongoing effects (e.g., "all the blue flagged mummies are cowering").

I like that i could use that sometimes i forget what affects on on witch miniture this might work well
