Do You Like to Read?

Why watch another rerun of Friends when you can actually use your mind for something? that's what I ask my friends as I sit and read something interesting and they watch the same episode of the show for the 100th time.

Reading is awesome and its something that all parents should have their kids get in the habit of doing. Sorry for ranting but my neighbors...well...

Reading is good. I say Yes, all the time.

Hey, personally, I hate reading, but I can't find anyone who'll read out loud to me, so I gotta do it all myself.

I don't like most of the fantasy or sci-fi stuff out there these days, so I stick with whacko UFOlogy and Look Over There, It's Atlantis Again! books. I've also got a hankerin' for those oddball tidbits of historical accuracy that can turn a D&D campaign into a university paper--I like going overboard on the reality thing. But you just can't find enough detail on this stuff, so I read bits here and bits there and end up hoping I'll stumble upon something meaningful (ie. fulfilling) one day.

I'm always reading and will be looking at at least three different books at the same time. Recently that's usually books for my Ph.D. more than books I read just for pleasure (my literature books count as both work and pleasure, luckily).

Most of the time I try to be as diverse as possible when buying new books. Reading only fantasy stuff tends to get boring after some time. So I try to read from all departments from world politics to some obscure esoteric novel. Keeps the brain working

as a kid i watched TV alot. and played wargames.

but as i started playing RPGs i got into reading. gave up the idiot box/boob tube.

i read all the time.

I've been a heavy reader for years, always at least rereading something.
my collection encludes:
Fantasy,
Sci-Fi,
Historical Fiction,
Historical non-fiction,
Theoretical Physics,
Military,
and Religious texts

I've just finished the Baroque Cycle and am into Cryptonomicon now. I feel like wallowing in his ideas and reading all the non-fiction on his topics I can get my hands on!

I don't read sword-and-sorcery fantasy anymore (except Tolkien), but stick more with Tim Powers (my absolute fave), Neal Gaiman, China Mieville, etc. I'm also a member of the Horror Writers Association, so I try to read horror--esp. Charles Grant and Caitlin Kiernan. I've read over half the Aubrey-Maturin series.

I've recently broadened my comics horizons to include DC, not just Marvel, so I'm catching up with JLA and Green Lantern. I think that counts!

I tend to read a lot. My schedule is busy though, so I do not get to read as often as I would like. I tend to be reading at least one game sourcebook at any given time and a fantasy novel.

When I was a kid I was an avid reader. Then I discovered computer games. They're just better.

I used to read a lot, but now it gives me a headache so I only read occasionally. I mostly like fantasy and sci-fi. I used to be into horror and mystery, but find I don't read that much any more. I guess I should broaden my tastes.
